Journey Into Greatness

Capture-Water

Introduction to Water

The problem with most retriever training videos:
The typical retriever training video demonstrates either a trained or semi-trained dog going through the steps. The problem with this is that training RARELY if ever goes as easy as these video's make it seem. This makes many people feel their dog is not getting it or they are doing something wrong, when in reality the challenges may be a natural part of the process. The methodology of most of these videos is very good but they fail to discuss or demonstrate many of the challenges that come up and MAYBE EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY THE PROPER ATTITUDE AND MINDSET THE TRAINER NEEDS TO HAVE AS THEY GO THROUGH THIS PROCESS.

This video retriever training program is extensive and takes into consideration the different temperaments and personalities of the dogs as we go through the training process. And this is critical! To train every dog as if they were the same is a huge mistake that far too often is made, to the detriment of the dog.

As I walk you step by step through the process you will get to see how different temperaments and personalities in the dogs are handled and why. This, along with the great detail the program goes into. This is a 12 DVD, 12 week program ... the same program I use for my dogs at the kennel.

Note: In my opinion to produce "good results" at the expense of the dogs psyche is a total training failure. In other words if the dog does all it is supposed to do but its personality or temperament has been negatively impacted in the training process, the results in my opinion should be deemed a total failure. The bad news is this happens more than many people think. The good news is it doesn't need to be this way; you can achieve great results in the training of your dog while cultivating and maintaining a positive working attitude.

At this point you may be asking who am I and
what are my qualifications?

My name is Dennis Hayre and I have been training retrievers since 1991. I have trained dogs to the highest levels in field trials, hunt tests, and hunting. I have put many Master Hunting titles on dogs. I have qualified dogs for and in Master National events. And maybe even more importantly to you, I have taught many others to train their dogs to compete with and hunt their dogs at the highest levels.

It has been and is my passion to train dogs and to train people to train their dogs to the highest levels possible while cultivating and maintaining a positive working attitude in the dogs.

So what can this training program do for you and your dog and what does this totally unique program consist of?
First allow me to ask you a few questions.

Has a dog of yours ever embarrassed you out hunting? Or have you every seen one of your hunting buddies experience this? THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED SO THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO YOU!

Some have great, well trained hunting dogs. Why not you?

How good would it feel to walk out of the duck blind or out of the field after a day of hunting with a feeling of pride and satisfaction after the great performance your dog displayed?

How good would it feel after a day of hunting where your dog had a great day (and you did too), with your dog lying at your feet as you sit in your favorite chair, a crackling warm fire in the background as you reflect and cherish you and your dogs day afield?

How good would it feel and how much satisfaction would you have from knowing YOU trained the amazing hunting dog you now have? (And realize this, the bond you will have from taking your dog through this program could not happen in any other way).

How good would it feel to have such a well trained dog that you can take your dog anyplace at anytime (such as camping trips, little league games, and in my case even my own wedding. One of our dogs was our ring bearer)?

What makes this retriever training program different
and what can it do for you?

MINDSET: Many other hunting retriever training programs discuss methods only; this program will discuss the importance of the proper MINDSET of the trainer that is so critical to the outcome. The methods are obviously important and a critical aspect of any training program. But if the methods are not backed by the proper mindset of the trainer the outcome will not be nearly as desirable as they could be and possibly detrimental to the dog's short term or long term well being.

Steadiness

REALISM: Many other hunting retriever training programs take a trained or semi-trained dog as they demonstrate the methods. This is helpful to a limited degree but the problem with it is, training RARELY goes as smoothly as some of these training videos and books make it seem. And this often makes someone trying to train their own dog feel that they are doing something wrong or their dog is not so smart. These type of videos make the trainer on the video look like a great trainer but this does you little good when it come to training YOUR own dog. I have on occasion wondered (in my more cynical moments) when it comes to some of these video's if the motive behind it is to help others train their own dog or to make themselves look like good trainers.

PERSONALITIES: This retriever training program takes into consideration the different temperament and personality types of dogs. In my opinion it is impossible to train a hunting dog or any dog for that matter, properly, if these are not taken into consideration and this information integrated into every phase of the training process.

STEP by STEP: THIS PROGRAM is designed to guide you step by step, week by week, through the whole process. You certainly can watch the whole program all the way through first if you would like, but it is designed to take you through the process week by week (the same process I take the dogs through at our kennel). The program consist of 12 DVD's (one for each week) as well as a training manual that walks you through the process.

DISCUSSIONS: Each training session is preceded by a discussion on what can and often does go wrong during that particular part of the training process, and how to handle those situations and challenges from a methodology and mindset perspective. These discussions (fireside chats they could be called) are a critical part of the program as they go into things that cannot easily be demonstrated yet that are crucial to know before the process starts.

VARIOUS APPLICATIONS: These videos were not shot in a weekend, or even a week or a month. The video was shot over a period of many months as I tried to integrate dogs of different temperaments and personalities into the process. It is quite easy to show a certain type of dog breezing through the program. I demonstrate many dogs of different temperaments and personalities and how to handle each one in their own unique way. The same methods may be used with most dogs but how those methods are applied can be quite DIFFERENT. Whatever you do don't forget this! You can mess up the methods on occasion and still produce a well trained dog with a great attitude, but if you mess up the mindset part of the process and get all the methods right you can produce inferior if not disastrous results.

MISTAKES ARE OK: I show dogs with high drive, low drive, and dogs in between. I show stubborn dogs, sensitive dogs, tough dogs, and sulky dogs. I show what it looks like when things go well and when things don't, and what to do when they DON'T go well. I show what it looks like to plan to work on one thing and it turns into something else. There may even be a mistake or two that I made on the videos somewhere (I guess I should have edited those out, I would hate for someone to think a professional dog trainer could make a mistake).

PROPER USE of E-COLLAR: The program does consist of the use of the electronic collar. And though the electronic collar (e-collar) can be and is abused, the people that abuse the use of the e-collar are the same people that would abuse any method of correction used. The e-collar when used correctly (which means NEVER with emotion) is in my opinion the most productive and humane way to train a dog. The timing of your corrections are not only perfect but the intensity level can be set to the level that matches the dogs temperament. I have seen a dog's life saved by the proper use of the e-collar. Imagine you're out hunting or on a walk for that matter and your dog jumps a rabbit and the chase is on, and the chase is heading for a busy road. With a dog who is PROPERLY conditioned to the e-collar we say here and if the dog disobeys and continues the chase we follow the next here with a nick (correction with the collar) and the dog turns and comes back to us. We return home with our faithful friend at our side. The dog without the e-collar on or one that has not properly been conditioned on the e-collar also chases the rabbit but on the multiple here commands given there is no response, or an improper response. The end result is not pleasant as you end up carrying your dog off the road to the vet or worse. Your faithful friend will not be accompanying you home this day. What is more inhumane, giving a dog a fair correction for disobedience with the e-collar or having to pick your dog up off the road after being hit by a car? So yes, the e-collar can be and is abused, but used correctly it cannot only save your dogs life but produce a dog trained to a much higher level than it otherwise could be while producing a positive working attitude in the dog.

SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS ...
WHAT WILL THIS PROGRAM DO FOR YOU AND YOU'RE DOG?

  • As I have said this program will teach you to train your dog to a high level while cultivating a positive working attitude in the dog, and in you.

  • This program will not only give you the necessary tools and methods to train your dog but the proper mindset as well (which in my mind is as important as the methods).

  • This program will cultivate a bond between you and your dog that will not only produce great results out hunting but at home and in day to day living as well. It is a great feeling to know you can take your dog any place at anytime and have complete control of him or her.
Capture-Decoys

Introduction to Decoys

  • This program will not only produce a well trained hunting dog and family dog but lay a foundation that will be with the dog the rest of its life. And if you choose, gives you the foundation to pursue higher and higher levels of training.

  • This program will give you the confidence to train and handle your dog to any level you choose.

  • This program could very well get you invited to some fantastic places to hunt.

  • This program is set up to allow you to access any part of the program quickly and easily. It would have been cheaper to put more than one week on each DVD but I did not think it would be as user friendly.

  • This program will produce a feeling of pride and accomplishment in you as you see your dog bare the fruit of your time and effort.

  • The results this program gets for you could very well have your friends asking you to train their dog.

  • This program will not only produce quality hunts but many great memories as well. Memories that you will cherish forever.

  • The cost of getting your dog professionally trained can go anywhere from $1500 to $2400. The cost of this complete 12 week, 12 DVD program is $99. That comes out to under $8.25 a DVD (or a week if you want to look at it that way). And that does not include the manual or action sheets which are part of the $99.

  • Though professional training obviously is valuable and has some advantages, and for some this is the way to go for any number of reasons. But for those wanting to train their own dog they will gain benefits someone that has their dog trained could never get. One of my biggest challenges in dogs I train for people is getting the owners on the same page at the end of the training so the transition from me back to them is a smooth, productive and an effective one. The bond and communication you cultivate from training your own dog you cannot get in any other way. And it lasts a lifetime.

THE PROGRAM WALKS YOU STEP BY STEP THROUGH THE SAME PROGAM I TAKE MY DOGS THROUGH AT THE KENNEL.

We start at the very beginning from introducing your dog PROPERLY to birds, gunfire, water, decoys, etc.

The program will teach you how to properly use the electronic collar and how to avoid the mistakes many people make, and how to get immediate and proper responses from your dog every time you give a command.

The program will teach you how to get your dog to deliver the birds to hand every time and how to handle the birds properly.

For those who want a steady dog (a dog that does not go for the retrieve until released to do so) we will show you the proper way to do that.

We will show you to teach your dog to do different types of retrieves you are likely to encounter out hunting.

The program will show you what to do and what not to do when things don't go as planned. This happens more often than your typical book or training video let on.

We will teach your dog how to do doubles retrieves.

We will show how to keep your dog under control when you are blowing a duck call full bore. It seems many dogs think blowing the duck call means to get up and run around the blind. This does not bode well for getting ducks into close shooting range.

We will show you how to teach your dog to hunt upland birds.

The program will even start the process of teaching your dog to do hand signals (blind retrieves).

The program will walk you through the whole process in great detail. All for a fraction of the cost of having your dog professionally trained. And for some this means not having to explain to the rest of the family why the dog has to be gone for three months.

So for $99 (verses from $1500-$2400) you can have a highly trained dog as well as the knowledge and skill that will be with you for a lifetime.

AND ALL THIS AT ABSOLUTLEY NO RISK TO YOU! Once you order the video you will have a FULL 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. If within 30 days you are not completely satisfied with the program, just send it back and I will give you a 100% refund no questions asked. I have no interest in keeping anyone's money who is not completely satisfied with the program.

One last note:

On a LIMITED, first come first serve basis, I am offering a consultation program that goes along with the training program. It consist of me via phone and e-mail (and in person to those close enough to me do so) being available for advise and consultation as you go through the process. We would speak, communicate and in some cases meet on a weekly basis to go over any issues, challenges, or questions you may have. This part of the program is very unique. I know of know no one else that does it with and in conjunction with a training video. Again I can for obvious reasons only do this on a limited basis, but for anyone interested they can contact me at dennis@dennishayrekennels.com for more information and cost (there is an additional cost for this consultation, it is not included in the $99).

I look forward to hearing from you,

Dennis Hayre
